May 20, 2009

My Ally's life flashed before my eyes today as I watched her climb to the top of our sectional and almost rollover the back. My heart practically popped out of my chest as I launched myself into mid air to catch her (at least that's what it felt like) My super human, adrenaline pumped, mother bear powers came into play cause I don't know how I got there in time. Really it must have been God! She was rolling over the back side as I caught her before she fell over onto the ground, almost a 3 foot drop onto the carpet. The whole ordeal sent me spinning, my heart pounding, my mind questioning the insanity, when will this maddness end?

Right afterwards, Ally was laughing so hard and right back up there to do it again. And once Kate wittnessed my reaction and all the attention Ally was getting, she was trying to climb over too! So then I'm grabbing them both as I can and they are thinking this is a big game to play with mommy, so lets bite her to make it more interesting. I have bite marks on both shoulders, yes baby bite marks! Yesterday, I counted 5 times I was bitten. Today the tally is up to 4 already!

My gratitude list for the day so far consists of the wonderful chocolate peanut butter cookies I made last night! They have helped me recover from my already draining day and its not even over yet!

Amelia Island

The boys had a blast at the beach!

Mommy & girls at the beach

A couple of weeks ago we stayed at Amelia Island for 2 nights. It was great to finally get everyone out onto the beach for an early morning walk!

Daddy and Nate at the beach!

Kindergarten Champion

Here's Nick with his trophy for running the most laps for all kindergarteners. He even beat the 1st grade winner!!

So Joe informed me on the way home from Nick's gymnastics class that our family is wild and crazy. I asked if he was embarrassed of us. He said no, he just doesn't like how out of control things seem to get, always. I agree. And when its in front of a group of people you don't know you realize how crazy things really are. For about an hour we both worked hard to keep Nate and the girls entertained and happy while Nick bounced around in his new gymnastics class. He loves it! But for me it is a scheduled nightmare. I prepare as much as I can for this hour of entertaining twins and a 2 yr old while I try to watch Nick. However, it pretty much is a disaster waiting to happen. I actually didn't think things went that bad, but when Joe and I started to go over it all I realized I've just become totally used to the maddness around me. It really almost made me want to cry but we laughed instead. Nate was running around climbing all over chairs, he tried to run into the class, he almost flipped the lights out, Kate bit me hard on my shoulder (she left a mark), Ally was fussing, and every few minutes someone would let out a scream, Nate was back and forth playing in the water fountain drinking and trying to wet his hair in it, and then the girls started to try to bite each other and pinch so we went outside since I noticed the dirty looks and talking all around me. The change of scenery worked for about 15 minutes but it was raining and cold today so we went back in. The funniest part of it all is when we first got there a married couple told me what an amazing mom I must be, I think their opinion changed after all the chaos we brought to class! Adam said he would never go there with all 5 and my response is my only choice is to stay at home and contain the maddness or get out. We don't have any family to help out so I have no choice, and a babysitter is not always an option. Adam and Joe are my options for help and Adams got to work so its a mess is all i can say for now. The crying continues in the background I must go!

Calgone take me away!

So... I was going to post pictures but I have misplaced my camera again for the Nth time! Last time it was my cell phone. I know I was never this unorganized and absent minded when I just had 2 kids!

So here's my gratitude list for today:

The girls are asleep for the night, YES!

I went out to dinner with some girlfriends last night and actually got to eat a hot, healthy meal with a salad, without interruption! it has been way too long! And was it good!

Nick scored another 3 goals at his soccer game!

I sold my co-sleeper to an expecting Mom of twin girls! Althought I think the craziness of our home frightened her to what is to come! I tried to be encouraging!

Adam sold our double stroller, exersaucer and some other thing at our community garage sale! It is always awesome to get rid of bulky baby items!

Saturday -- Nick, Nate, Kate & Ally ran wild on the green during the live music. Towards the end it sprinkled while the sun was still out and everyone enjoyed getting wet except Ally!. We even got to see a beautiful rainbow too!

Our church finally found a senior pastor, we are so excited to meet him and his family!

More to come...
